David: Ed. Infantil y Primaria

Auxiliares de conversación en inglés colegio El PorvenirI am from Ohio in the north of the United States.

I came to Spain the first time in 1991 with the university when I was studying Spanish. I have been here many times since then.

I have been a language assistant for the last few years in a number of different schools. I enjoy sharing my language and culture. I love working with children. They say exactly what they think! It is wonderful to see the children´s faces without masks after the past few years.

I like animals and in the US I enjoy helping at an animal refuge. In my free time here in Madrid I like the terrazas and good conversation. I also enjoy reading and playing Chess.

Kate: Ed. Primaria

Auxiliares de conversación en inglés colegio El Porvenir My name is Kate Mickelson and I am from Indiana in the Midwest of the United States.

I graduated from Indiana University where I studied Environmental Management and Spanish, but my passion is teaching!

After graduating, I got my TEFL Certification and moved to Thailand for a year where I taught English at a secondary school. I also taught in a primary school in the United States before I moved to Madrid to be an English assistant. This is going to be my third year living in Madrid and it feels like a second home!

In the classroom, I focus on making English exciting and fun for students. I use interactive activities and games, music, references to popular culture, all while tailoring my approach to what interests the students to make English fun for students. When I'm not teaching, I love traveling (I've been to 20 countries and counting!), cooking, reading, and trying new restaurants with friends.

Megan: Ed. Primaria

Auxiliares de conversacion en inglés colegio El PorvenirHello! My name is Megan Smith. I'm from Seattle, Washington - also known as the Emerald City - located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.

I have a degree in Teaching with a specialization in English Literature and History from Seattle University. This will be my sixth school year in Madrid.

Over my several years teaching I have taught nearly every age, but I love teaching in Primary!

Education is my passion and I hope to encourage all students to find their own love of learning. I love to leverage multiple intelligences in the classroom to engage students and reinforce subjects and concepts. School should be fun and I hope to foster a fun and inclusive environment for all students so they not only feel successful in their English acquisition, but enjoy their learning journey as well!

Outside the classroom, I love to travel. I also enjoy photography and publish my own travel books with the photos taken during my holidays. I'm a big reader and voracious movie watcher. I love to cook and I also love spending time with my husband and son exploring Madrid and enjoying all the city has to offer.
